Affiliate disclosure

Short version: some links on this site earn us a commission. It does not change what we recommend, and it never changes the price you pay.

What affiliate links are

Some links to software vendors on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and later sign up for a paid plan, the vendor may pay us a percentage of that subscription — sometimes as a one-off payment, sometimes monthly for as long as you stay a customer.

You are never charged more because you arrived through our link. In several cases the vendor's own discount applies through the same link.

What it does not affect

What we do not accept

Not acceptedWhy
Paid placementsPosition in a list is never for sale
Sponsored reviewsIf money changes hands for coverage, the coverage is not independent
Vendor-supplied "reviews" or draft correctionsVendors may point out factual errors; they do not get to rewrite judgement
Display advertising from the vendors we reviewIt would create the same conflict in a different form

How you can tell

Every page that contains an affiliate link says so, in a line near the bottom of the page, before the footer. Pages with no affiliate links do not carry any disclosure line, so the absence of the line is also a signal.

Why we say all this

Affiliate-funded reviews are useful only if the reader can trust the ranking. Most of the software-review pages competing for these searches are generated in bulk, recommend tools that do not belong in the category at all, and publish prices nobody verified. We would rather be the page that shows its work.
